Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen at the first session?

In the first session you will be able to ask any questions you have and I will ask some questions about what has brought you to counselling to help us decide what service and treatment is suitable for you or your child. If you decide to go ahead, we will do some formal paperwork so we can get started on working together.

What Issues do people seek counselling for?

No issue or concern is too small or too big . Common issues include: anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues, trauma, life changes and transitions (e.g. births, deaths, separation/ divorce, adoption, moving, marriage), parenting, issues at work, career direction, abuse, addiction, anger, grief and loss, addictions, eating disorders, self-harm, identity, self-esteem, life decisions, chronic health issues, living with neurodiversity, burnout amongst others.

How many sessions will I need ?

Some issues can be resolved within a few sessions but more complex ones could require longer term therapy.  It depends on many factors and what has brought you to counselling. After the first couple of sessions we will have a better idea. Also, sometimes other deeper unresolved issues can come up as we go that you might want to explore more.
